We're Maura and Katie Young and we want to ask for your help. Our dad had a liver transplant way back in 1994 and this is a special problem for someone who needs a kidney transplant. There is great new medicine that allows people to donate a kidney even if the distinctive features of their kidney do not match the body of the person who is going to get the kidney. But this new medicine will not work for someone who already had a transplant. So, the only solution is to find someone whose kidney factors match our father's. It's a long shot, but there are people who will match our dad's particular need. We are really hoping our dad can receive a kidney because our other sister had twin baby girls who we do not get to see very often because they live in Alabama. It is too hard to travel to see them with my dad's dialysis schedule. If our dad had a new kidney, it would allow him to stay healthy and active and spend as much time with his family as possible!
