My name is Steve and I am 44 years old. I have polycystic kidney disease. It is a genetic disorder. I have been on dialysis(peritoneal and hemodialysis) and the kidney transplant list for two years. I have a son and daughter(13 years and 10 years old) who also have the same illness. I have been able to keep working full time but it is getting much more difficult as my stamina keeps decreasing. Most of the family and household resposibilities are falling on my wife without much help from me.I would like to be able to help more and enjoy the family while they are still young. IIf you are interested in helping please contact Karen at the transplant clinic at Buffalo General Hospital- (716)859-1345. We have just heard from Steve's wife that he will need surgey soon to remove his left kidney. She says "We are just waiting for them to decide when the surgery will be scheduled and praying we might win the lottery and a transplant will come in so he doesn't have to go through surgery twice!" If you are reading this, perhaps you can find it in your heart to test for Steve. |
